The owners had a strong vision and desire for a solar home, completely off the grid, that would feel connected with the outside and be integrated with the earth. The design uses a simple post frame structure of heavy timbers that uses the straw bale wall as a continuous, uninterrupted blanket wrapping around it. This provided an increased insulation value and the ability to be shaped more freely to the organic aesthetic desired by the owners.
